RANDALL TAYLOR
Heya!
Randall was born an 'August child' in 1964, the year of the dragon, during what seemed a time of chaos and re-birth and re-building. Randall's love for song came early. He comes from a musical family where everyone plays at least several instruments improvisationally. He began professionally studying music at the age of eight.
At the age of twelve he formed his first band and wrote his first song and has been active in-group or as a solo artist ever since.
Though he considers himself primarily to be a Folk artist Randall's style-range includes Blues, Rock, Country, Bluegrass, R&B, Funk and New Age.
Some of his influences include Robbie Robertson, Jeff Healey, Ottis Redding, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Dolores O'Riordan, EmmyLou Harris, Warren Haynes, Neil Young, Buffy St.Marie, Alan Parsons, Willie Nelson, Buddy Redbow, XIT and Leanord Cohen.
To date Randall has self-produced four alblums: "HART DRAW/WAITIN'ON THE STAGE","HART DRAW/WORDS FROM THE KIVA","LIZZY REDSHAWL/RAW" and LIZZY REDSHAWL/BADLANDS"
Named for one of his Grandmothers "Lizzy Redshawl", a 'Millenium child', was conceived in the spring of 2000. In the spring of 2001 the 'first sessions' alblum "LIZZY REDSHAWL/RAW" was released and work on "BADLANDS", a 'second sessions' compilation, began during the spring of 2002.
Besides writing Randall loves to hike and explore. He enjoys the solitude in the natural way of things and, as a songwriter, he tries to inflect this love for nature and the land.
The eagle flew to us with song
And in the song came words
And in the words came music
And the music was the words
And in the music was the song
Randall is a self-described 'Indigenous Taoist'. For him music has always been about what moves, like a diary of his road, often a refuge and seldom a comfort but always at his soul.
Randall currently resides in Hinckley, Utah.
